These works were part of a small exhibition (Supergreditur Anthropextinction) that I created and curated for Uni in 2018. The premise was inspired by H. Swansons words in Haunted Landscapes of the Anthropocene, where she defined humanity as a ‘destructive geological force’ and radiation as a tool that ‘resets planetary time.’
I was shocked by the severity and power that this angle suggested, and decided to create a series of controversial ‘solutions’ to the Anthropocene, with a heavy play on trans-humanist and ecocentric ideals. I was also quite obsessed with the SCP Foundation at the time, hence the direction of the layout.
The first solution (Genesis Protocol) was to synthetically augment the human body and genome to fast-track ourselves into a new sustainable species. The second solution (Eden Protocol) was to irreversibly transcend all of human consciousness into a Matrix-like system, to physically remove the human race from the environment. The components you see here formed my third solution: the Judgement Protocol. It is to be implemented only if the previous two solutions prove to be unsuccessful. It describes the complete eradication of humanity and the removal of all human ‘ghosts’ from the planet; a clean slate where Earth’s time is essentially ‘reset.’
